Vanier Children’s Mental Wellness is seeking experienced Board members to help us champion our strategic plan with a vision to foster “a community that cares, supports, and transforms the lives of children and families.” As a member of a skilled-based Board of Directors, you will enjoy an inclusive and collegial culture and learn from the perspectives of our highly committed members. You will engage in meaningful discussions to make strategic decisions supporting continued advocacy for children’s mental health in Southwestern Ontario.

Vanier is a not-for-profit organization that has served the London Middlesex community for 60 years. Vanier is accredited through CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Vanier provides mental health assessment and treatment to children (birth-18 years) struggling with mental health issues. Services include intensive live-in treatment, HAVEN Eating Disorders program, crisis support, counseling and therapy, family capacity building, and community support.

We are seeking volunteer Board Members who are:

  • Passionate about children’s mental health  
  • Experienced serving on a not-for-profit Board with a governance focus
  • Interested in providing strategic advice and input to review strategy and tactics
  • New Board members must have experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Board Governance
    • Risk Management
    • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging
    • Business Management and/or Administration
    • Finance
    • Government Relations.
    • Lived Experience as a consumer of children’s mental health services

Board members must be aligned with Vanier’s values:

Expectations of Board Members:

  • Be a community ambassador for Vanier
  • Attend monthly board meetings from September to June
  • Develop a good working knowledge of Vanier programs and services
  • Develop a solid understanding of Vanier Board Policies and Procedures
  • Actively participate on at least one board committee
  • Be a ‘can do,’ roll up your sleeves board member
  • Attend the Annual Meeting
  • Comply with Board Governance Policies
