Atlohsa Family Healing Services is looking for strategic, collaborative thinkers to join our Board of Directors to ensure the best possible governance and decision-making environment. As a passionate and dedicated Board Member, you are committed to upholding our values and will support and further enhance the rapid growth of this exceptional organization. This is an opportunity to play a key role in Indigenous-led initiatives designed to build a stronger community and inspire social change at a time when it is needed most.

COLLECTIVE BOARD SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Each Board Member brings unique skills and experience to the Board. In selecting new members, attention will be given to ensuring that the collective mix of skills and experience supports the Board’s ability to add strategic value to Atlohsa. Particular attention is paid to ensuring that the board is representative of the communities and members it serves, from equity, gender, and diversity perspectives.

Collectively, Board Members should:

  • Have previous experience on a non-for-profit board or equivalent.
  • Provide strong participation that strives for excellence and supports Mino Bimaadiziwin "The Good Way of Life".
  • Be strategic thinkers who take a governance-focused approach to Board responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to support Atlohsa's mission, vision, and values.
  • Have lived experience and active participation in Atlohsa events and programming.

The Board is committed to seeking a skilled and diverse membership reflective of the community it serves. Therefore we are currently looking for Individuals who self-identify as First Nations, Metis or Inuit are to apply. At Atlohsa, we value diversity in our workforce and encourage all qualified candidates to apply, however preferences will be given to qualified, Indigenous applicants. The Board also actively encourages applications from those members who reside in London or surrounding area.

TERM OF OFFICE

The term of office of the Board Member, who is elected, will be for three (3) years.

To foster its ability to provide strategic direction and fulfill its oversight responsibilities, the collective Board should include members with knowledge of and experience in the following areas:

  • Board Governance
  • Financial Management and Analysis
  • Shelter and Support Industry
  • Housing and Homelessness Prevention Industry
  • Addiction Support Industry
  • Anti-Human Trafficking Industry
  • Business Development
  • Risk Management and Analysis
  • Fundraising and Corporate Giving
  • Human Resources
  • Building Partnerships and Strategic Alliances
