Join Young London’s Board of Directors

About us:

Young London is an organization by young people, for young people that focuses on empowering one another through community engagement. We support young people in using their skills to positively impact our community through research, community projects, and other forms of civic engagement.

We promote equity in community spaces by facilitating opportunities for young people to co-create solutions and bring their perspectives to create meaningful impact across London neighbourhoods.

The Position

Our organization has evolved over the past few years. With a New Executive Director and board member transitions, we are looking for eager and passionate people who will help shape the future of the organization’s future strategically and sustainably. We are currently looking for several board members, including a treasurer. 

As a member of Young London’s Board of Directors, you will help shape the future of youth engagement and empowerment in London.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Young London within the community

  • Understand and promote the organization's mission 

  • Be familiar with the organization's programs and policies

  • Participate in monthly board meetings, Annual General Meetings, committee meetings, and emergency meetings as needed

  • Contribute to Young London’s new strategic plan 

  • Support in fundraising efforts

  • Cultivate and strengthen community relationships 


Time Commitment:

  • Five to seven hours per month for a minimum of one year, with a recommended term of two years.

About You:

You are a firm believer in the importance of uplifting youth voices and creating opportunities for youth leadership and skills development. You are an experienced professional living in London who can share their knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following:

  • Accounting/ Finance

  • Fund Development/ Philanthropy

  • Community and Strategic Partnerships

  • Youth Programming/ Community Engagement

  • Legal/HR knowledge

  • Youth Mental Health/ Crisis Intervention/ Harm Reduction 

You understand that you will play a role in the governance of a small nonprofit and your actions will determine the success of our organization. You are motivated to uphold the organization’s mission and hold yourself accountable.
