Community Garden Volunteer

Watering all flower and vegetable beds


· Adding fertilizer/soil as needed

· Picking and disposing of weeds/raking area as needed

· Cleaning up litter

· Harvesting/cleaning/bagging produce as required

· Documenting information regarding amount harvested

· Other duties as requested by the Community Ministries Program Lead or designate

ust be at least 16 years of age. Professional gardening experience is ideal, but volunteers should have some gardening experience or vegetable garden knowledge..

Please note: This is a very physically demanding role requiring good physical fitness, including the ability to bend, lift, and kneel, the stamina to undertake physical work for a 3 hour shift, and the hardiness to function outdoors in all weather conditions.

Volunteers will book their weeks/days of work in advance for the growing season.

Depending on weather, volunteers may not be needed every scheduled day.

Must provide own transportation. We are on LTC routes #10, 15, 27

Must be able to work independently.

No open-toed shoes/sandals/flip-flops.

Sunhats recommended.

Required Qualifications/Training: 
Some knowledge of gardening or vegetable gardens is ideal, but willing to train.
Skills Preferred: 
Dependable
Can work independently
Enjoys working outdoors and in the dirt
Can use garden tools and be on their hands and knees without risk of pain or injury
