Directors at Large play a vital role in supporting the governance and strategic direction of the AFP London and Region Chapter. As active members of the Board, they contribute to the leadership, decision-making, and implementation of initiatives that support the Chapter’s mission to advance ethical and effective fundraising through education, advocacy, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings (typically held virtually).
- Participate in the annual in-person Board strategy session to support long-term planning and goal setting.
- Attend and support chapter-hosted professional development and networking events, as able.
- Contribute to Board and/or committee work as needed.
- Act as an ambassador for AFP London and Region, promoting the organization and its events to the broader fundraising and nonprofit community.
- Stay informed about chapter initiatives, sector trends, and member needs to support effective governance and decision-making.
Qualifications:
- A current member of AFP or willingness to become a member.
- Commitment to upholding AFP’s values, including ethics, inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA).
- Interest in supporting the professional fundraising community and the nonprofit sector in the London and Region area.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Previous board, committee, or volunteer leadership experience is an asset but not required.
Time Commitment: Approximately 2-4 hours per month.
- Monthly virtual Board meetings (1 hour each).
- Attendance at the annual in-person Board strategy session (half-day commitment).
- Participation in chapter events and committee activities as needed.
