Hours:

Hours dependent on booth availability and occurrence. Roughly 5-10 hours per month.

The London Environmental Network (LEN) is a network of local environmentally focused non-profits and community groups. LEN works to strengthen these groups internally so they are better able to make positive change over the long term. The LEN also works to raise the profile of the environmental non-profit sector so we attract more volunteers and supporters in growing a healthy, sustainable city. Volunteering Description:

The Outreach and Events volunteer will support the London Environmental Network’s outreach booths and events as requested. This position helps connect us to London’s communities, by engaging with Londoners at outreach events and sharing opportunities to get involved with the London Environmental Network. Play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of our environmental events. Your assistance with setup, takedown, parking management, and organization will directly contribute to the success of our initiatives aimed at promoting environmental awareness and community engagement.

Role Overview:

• You’ll be responsible for organizing and transporting LEN materials to outreach events we participate in across London.
• You’ll be responsible for the set up of events, including arranging tables, chairs, signage, and other necessary equipment.
• Aid in event takedown and cleanup, including packing equipment, removing decorations, and disposing of waste responsibly.
• Direct and assist attendees with parking and ensure smooth traffic flow before and during events.
• Provide assistance to event organizers and staff as needed.
• You’ll be responsible for collecting community engagement metrics at the booth and reporting this to the designated LEN staff
• You may be responsible for selling LEN merchandise.
• Supporting our continued outreach efforts to new groups to raise awareness and empower environmental action in London.

Preferable Experience and Skills:

• Previous experience in nonprofits, community engagement, sales, or customer service is desirable. 
• Must love talking to new people and finding solutions.
• A background in environmental studies or a related field is desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently to meet deliverables.
• Strong problem-solving skills, written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling assigned duties before, during, and after events.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in setting up event spaces and managing logistics.
• Interest in environmental issues and enthusiasm for supporting community events that promote sustainability.
