Summary:
We are currently seeking compassionate, responsive, detail-oriented Program Application Coordinators who genuinely care about animal welfare and serve as the front-line service representatives in handling application requests from people who need help. Key responsibilities include managing incoming applications and communications and providing timely, empathetic responses to applicant inquiries. This role also focuses on supporting our mission to keep families and pets together during crises, while promoting the well-being of vulnerable animals and their owners.
The ideal candidate will be organized, and resilient, with customer service or social services experience. Excellent time management and communication skills along with the ability to handle high email volumes with clarity and empathy are essential. This role requires someone who can work independently and as part of a team, maintaining strong emotional boundaries while making decisions for the applications. Familiarity with the local Southwest Ontario area is preferred. An estimated commitment of 3-5 hours per week, with flexibility for some daytime, evening, and occasional weekend availability to provide timely support is required.

Progressive Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Canada is a non-profit organization committed to enhancing the lives of animals across the country. Our mission is to protect, advocate for, and care for pets in need, focusing on rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming efforts. We collaborate closely with local shelters, foster networks, and volunteers to ensure that animals receive the love, medical attention, and support they need to thrive. Currently, our primary efforts are concentrated in the London, Ontario area, as the City of London is our main benefactor.
Responsibilities and Duties:

Respond and support promptly to high volumes of application emails, maintaining empathetic and clear communication with applicants.

Communicate compassionately to the applicants, especially in sensitive situations, while maintaining strong emotional boundaries.

Prioritize animal welfare and help at-risk families keep their pets safe and cared for during crises.

Maintain and update the program database regularly to ensure accurate records and efficient program operations.

Support the Program Applications Team with administrative tasks, including tracking and responding to applications and inquiries.

Collaborate with the team while managing individual responsibilities independently.
Qualifications and Requirements:

Passion for animal welfare and commitment to supporting pet owners in need.

Previous experience in customer service or social services, particularly in roles requiring empathy, patience, and tact.

Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a busy environment.

Working knowledge in Google Sheets and database management.

Clear and compassionate communication skills, especially when working with vulnerable populations.

Emotional resilience to manage potentially challenging client stories with professionalism and empathy.
