Position Overview
The Al-Haqq Foundation is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to serve as the Project Manager for our Travelling Food Bank initiative. This role is crucial in addressing food insecurity by ensuring the effective delivery of food resources to underserved communities. The Project Manager will oversee planning, coordination, and execution of the program, working closely with volunteers, donors, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination:
- Plan and manage the logistics of the travelling food bank, including scheduling delivery routes and securing necessary permits
- Develop and maintain a calendar of operations to ensure timely service delivery
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of volunteers to assist with food collection, packaging, and distribution
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment, ensuring volunteers feel valued and supported
- Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, community leaders, and donors to expand the program's reach
- Act as a representative of Al-Haqq Foundation at community events and outreach activities
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate food donations to meet community needs
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food items in compliance with health and safety standards
- Track and report program metrics, including the number of individuals served and resources distributed
- Provide regular updates to the board on program progress and challenges
Qualifications and Skills
- Prior project management experience preferred
- Experience in volunteering or working with non-profit organizations preferred
- Knowledge of food security issues and the local community is an asset
- Able to display strong organizational and project management skills
- Able to work collaboratively with diverse groups
- Flexibility to travel within London as needed to support the food bank
