The Port Stanley Pet Pantry is seeking social media volunteers.

About the Port Stanley Pet Pantry

The Port Stanley Pet Pantry is a non-profit organization supporting animals in need of pet food in Elgin county. No one should have to face the difficult decision to surrender their animal because they cannot afford the cost of food. Our goal is to reduce animal surrenders due to pet food insecurity.

To achieve our goal, we offer judgement-free, low barrier access to pet food. We are 100% volunteer and donation based.

Need:

We haven’t been able to devote enough time to developing our digital presence. We’d love your help to spread the word about the great work we do and the impact it has. We are looking for a passionate and creative volunteer to help us plan, update and deliver our social media strategy, specifically focusing on Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. The role involves contributing to our social media strategy and developing content that tells the story of the pantry’s mission, projects and impact in an engaging way.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience in social media content creation and strategy, preferably in an animal focused nonprofit or other community-focused environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to create compelling and persuasive content

• Ability to write content for a range of platforms

• Basic video editing skills are a plus.

Tasks will involve:

• Collaborating with the Port Stanley Pet Pantry team to understand our mission, values, and target audiences

• Collaborating with the team to develop a strategic plan for social media, including content themes, posting frequency, and engagement tactics

• Creating engaging social media content

• Creating content for use on our website, leaflets, fundraising/promotional materials, etc.

• Support with our branding initiatives.

Commitment:

Regular volunteering for about 4hours per week over a minimum of 3-6 months. We’d love a longer term commitment if possible.

Location:

Home based in Canada, preferably around London or Elgin county within Ontario so the volunteer can attend events the organization will be at.

If you are interested, please contact Julia and/or Meghan by email at portstanleypetpantry@gmail.com.

Whether you're looking for volunteer opportunities,
networking events or a job in the nonprofit sector, we can help.
