TUTOR - Reading Program

LDA-London Region is currently recruiting volunteer tutors for our reading program.  Are you a University and/or College student, ages 18 to 30 years, are fun, outgoing, patient and have a warm personality? Come join our team! 

The Read-Up+ program is designed to help students in grades 3 to 6 who struggle attaining literacy skills due to an identified or suspected learning disability. The Read-Up+ program will help improve reading skills by focusing on phonological awareness, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. 

Tutors will be assigned to work with a student 1:1 through a blended delivery format (50% of sessions will be held in-person at our LDA Center & 50% of our sessions to be held virtually over Zoom. The schedule will be for 20-weeks Sep25-Dec4 and resume Jan22-Apr9 on Thursday evenings 6:00-7:30pm.  More information will be provided to successful applicants. Required Qualifications/Training: 
Have had some previous tutoring experience preferred (professionally not required)
Submission of a clean Vulnerable Sectors Check (application info provided during interview)
Training is required and will be provided to successful applicants
Skills Preferred: 
Have experience working with children/youth
Have advanced English language skills
Have excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Have strong planning and organizational skills
