Western University Resources

Did you know that there are many ways your organization can engage with Western University? Thank you to Community Engaged Learning at Western for compiling this information!

Partnership opportunities include:

Community Engaged Learning Courses

Working under the supervision of a community partner, students complete community-based projects and/or placements as part of their course credit. Projects are defined by community organizations to meet their unique needs and intentionally aligned with learning outcomes of courses in various disciplines.

Orientation Serves

Orientation Serves is a new program that will give first-year students the opportunity to learn about the London community from the moment they arrive in our city. On September 9th, between 12:00 and 2:30pm, groups of 10-40 students will be sent to provide service to organizations indicating a need for their support. This support can be in the form of tactile service (e.g., gardening, cleaning, painting) or knowledge-sharing service (e.g., assistance with social media, providing ideas about how to engage youth in your organization).

Orientation Month - Timeraiser

Orientation Month Timeraiser is an extension of Orientiation Serves. For the Timeraiser, small to medium sized groups of (8-25) students can provide service to organizations indicating a need for their support. They hope to have students sign-up to participate in timeslots of 2-3 hours on weekday evenings, or anytime during the weekends. Their goal is for students to provide 10,000 hours of service within the London community.

Alternative Spring Break Serves

As part of the Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program, student participants, student team leaders and staff and faculty team leaders are required to engage in a team building service experience in the London community prior to their week-long service experience over Reading Week. ASB Serves 2018 will take place during the week of January 14-20, 2018. If your organization is interested in hosting a group of approximately 8-12 Western students, staff and faculty for ASB Serves, please contact Melissa Ostrowski, Global Experiential Learning Coordinator.
