Annual Giving Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Annual Giving Officer will implement and manage a comprehensive and sustainable fundraising plan centred on best-practices to mature our program, ensure financial resilience and continually raise more money by building fundraising capacity, acquiring new donors, and diversifying revenues.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stewardship:

  • Provide accountability and transparency for gifts and communicate impact of giving through broad communications (e-news, website, social media);
  • Support Director of Development with recognition and reporting to individual leadership givers and planned givers;
  • Inform, compile and develop written standard operating procedures for stewardship program;
  • Suggest changes to the stewardship plan as necessary and implement any revisions.


Annual Giving Program:

  • Implement annual programs and appeals including Direct Response, Memorial/ Tribute program, Monthly Giving, Family Program,  Third-Party Events, Gifts-in-Kind, Services-in-Kind and Giving Tuesday;
  • Make recommendations on fund development program planning, evaluation, new activities or policies and procedures;
  • Work with the Fund Development team to execute signature events, support third-party events and other unique donor opportunities as they arise;
  • Assist in the development and updating of written annual giving program procedures;
  • Manage Canada Helps and other online and workplace giving platforms;
  • Evaluate results of each annual program and compare with established metrics;
  • Develop strategies for donor acquisition;
  • Respond to giving inquiries and provide necessary follow-up.


Communications Related to Fundraising:

  • Develop fundraising messages for social media and website related to annual giving program and stewardship in consultation with Communications Manager and Director of Development and in alignment with Unity Project ethics and values;
  • Ensure that communications are donor centric with an ongoing emphasis on donor accountability, impact, and transparency;
  • Develop and edit cases for support (including some grant writing) as required.


Administration:

  • Assist Director of Development with budget as it relates to annual program and stewardship;
  • Report to Director of Development and Fundraising Committee on fundraising progress;
  • Participate in Fundraising Committee as required;
  • Work with the Director of Development in the creation of annual fundraising plans;
  • Manage donor relationship data on CRM database as related to annual program and stewardship in collaboration with data management personnel;
  • Other related duties, as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age;
  • A minimum of 3- 5 years of related fund development experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in fund development or related studies is an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience in volunteer engagement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management systems particularly with Raiser’s Edge NXT;
  • Excellent computer literacy skills and adaptability to new technology and digital platforms, with high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat);
  • Understanding of homelessness or experience in social service charities an asset;
  • Proven ability to cultivate, solicit and steward existing and potential donors, with a donor centred approach;
  • Superior time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a fast paced, results oriented environment;
  • Ability to understand and solve problems that may simultaneously involve many systems, and ability to analyze, interpret and manage impact of multiple perspectives;
  • Understand and employ Unity Project's core values of respect, compassion, cooperation and interdependence;
  • Responsibilities may be altered from time to time;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours with occasional nights/weekends;
  • Ability to combine in person and remote work.

SALARY, BENEFITS AND HOURS OF WORK

  • $63,000 - $68,000 per annum dependent on experience
  • 3 weeks paid vacation to start
  • 14 personal days annually
  • Matching Group RRSP

  • Full time, 40 hours per week with a willingness to work flexible hours including occasional evening and weekend work as needed
