Strengthening Team Alignment with Clarity, Care, and Curiosity (2022)

Session #2 of Transformational Leadership: Leading From the Inside Out 2021 Program
April 13, 2022

Strengthening Team Alignment with Clarity, Care, and Curiosity

Motivating and retaining the best talent in the current social impact sector can be very challenging. You've got a lot on your plate and so does your team. The workforce spans cultures, generations, value systems and priorities. As a leader, you may be dealing with team members with varying expectations and experience and managing factors such as anxiety, mistrust and communication barriers. In this uncertain time, there are also many positive moments of teams coming together to navigate challenges and having the right tools to manage the highs and lows can help ensure you and your team are aligned in your pursuit of your mission.

Given ongoing changes to our working conditions and changing expectations of employees, this current reality demands more focus on the human dimension in the workplace to create conditions for effective collaborations and cross-functional teaming. In the quest to be more effective, efficient and engaging, creating a culture rooted in empathy, trust, and accountability is critical.

Effective team leadership is a balancing act. Whether you're managing a division, a team, or just a few employees, learn how to create the conditions your employees/volunteers need to thrive so that you are positioned to collectively deliver on your purpose. In this workshop we will set you on the road to get the skills you need to align your team and help you shift from managing to leading.

In this session, you will learn how to:

  • Promote a culture of accountability and cooperation within your team
  • Apply coaching and mentoring skills to develop empathy and trust
  • Develop skills to delegate with clarity and collectively achieve your objectives
  • Use appreciative inquiry and expectation setting to manage conflict and dynamic situations

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Transformation and relationships are at the heart of much of Rachel's work. Knowing that change starts from within, Rachel is dedicated to her own growth and reflection, with a particular focus on anti-racism, decolonization, power, and relational ways of being. As an intrepreneur throughout her career, Rachel sees opportunities in barriers to change and brings a human-centred approach to moving beyond them, from B Corp movement building by way of relationships to co-creating accelerators for women and non-binary social entrepreneurs as part of the Women of Ontario Social Enterprise Network (WOSEN). Having navigated significant changes in leadership and hard pivots, Rachel has developed the capacity to not only bring clarity and stability during internal transformation, but also to spark innovation and collaboration in service of shifting systems.
